Easter Eggs

We got a package of the eggs that are soy free for Rebecca and Elias again this year. They are great, because they are the size of the plastic eggs (hollow, not solid chocolate) and foil wrapped, so you can use them for an egg hunt! :)

Preschool

We started Preschool with Rebecca on Monday!

We went for a nature walk on Wednesday, and Rebecca found a "hand" sticking out of the ground! What a shriek came out of her! It was quite funny, but she wouldn't come close enough to take a good look at it... even though it was just a root. :)

We talked about Heaven being God's home, and how we have an address here where we live, and will eventually live with God in heaven.

Elias started Nursery school this week too, and we've been learning Jesus Loves Me. He took the camera from me trying to see what I was looking at when the camera flips around. He apparently decided it wasn't that interesting, as he gave it back to me. :)

Pocahontas State Park

On Valentine's Day I had to get a couple of fillings put in, so Justin took the day off so I wouldn't have to deal with two babies and a half frozen mouth (THANK YOU, JUSTIN!!!). After the fillings were in, we went to Pocahontas State Park and took a very, very, very long walk, and a number of pictures along the way. :)

We got Rebecca and Elias a double umbrella stroller, which we use very regularly, and they enjoy a lot.

I'm not really sure what that is, but I'm suspecting it is an old kiln or oven. There were no signs to say what it was.

Yes, I've cut his hair since then. He no longer looks that shaggy.

This is Rebecca's "sulking" position. Anywhere, anytime she needs to pout, that is how you will find her.

Someone took it upon themselves to carve dead tree stumps into chairs along the path, which we thought was pretty neat. :)

No baby yet.

And that's about all that is going through my mind lately, aside from the thought "I can't believe we're almost a week overdue AGAIN." I think I'm just going to start lying about due dates in the future, and just PLAN to be 1.5-2 (or more?!) weeks late.

I took Rebecca for a walk today at one of the local nature parks, and what would normally take me about 20 minutes or so to walk, took us over an hour, because every time we saw water, we had to stop to look for 'tuts' (turtles). We spent about 5 minutes watching a bunch of turtles basking on a platform, and also found a baby turtle about the size of a half dollar... too far out of our reach for us to do anything beyond look at it's little nose poke out of the water. Anyway, I guess at least it exercised her legs, and I got some exercise as well. She ate quite well when we got home, and has already gone to sleep... hopefully for the night, so I guess it tired her out as well.

I revamped our menu plan for the summer, and have actually planned breakfast, lunch, and snacks, not just dinners now. I took a lot of ideas from the book Feed Me I'm Yours, and thus far Rebecca doesn't seem to have any issues with almost any recipes I've offered from that book! In fact, she seems to LOVE most anything from it. The only things she hasn't loved have been the tuna and chicken salad ideas, which is fine. She's been eating more and a wider variety for the last couple of weeks now, so I'm happy, even if she isn't eating *everything* I serve. :)

Finally, my house is feeling like it is a disaster, even though I'm sure it's not quite that bad... and my mother is arriving in 11 days. At the rate we're going it seems she may arrive before the baby does, lol! But, hopefully we'll have a baby, a relatively tidy house, and some organization going on around here before she gets here.

Beach, Flooring, and Cousins

Well, I don't know how many paid attention to the weather around here in mid-November, but we had a very big "nor'easter" combined with the tropical storm "Ida", which caused 30-year historic rainfall! We had flooding all over the place, some places deep enough that cars were entirely covered, and houses were half-filled with water. Thankfully all that happened here was the end of our road got covered in about 1 foot of water, and the ditches all the way along the street were flooded, so driveways were hard to distinguish. No one on our street had indoor flooding though!

So, anyway, because of this, the ocean beaches were difficult to access at the beginning of the week that my parents were here, so we suggested that rather than going to a local beach, the OBX (Outer Banx) might be a better option. After going to the beach there, we thought perhaps a drive down to Cape Hatteras would be nice, turned out the road was flooded out, so they were only opening it for 1 hour of the whole day. We decided we'd go somewhere else, and ended up going to see the park where the Lost Colony was located... until they disappeared mysteriously. It's really an interesting thing, because it's a mystery that they may never find the answer to.


Rebecca thinks it is great fun to climb her stroller. We were waiting for everyone to be ready to go to the OBX at this point.

Lunch break! We'd just entered Kitty Hawk, I think. We stopped to have lunch at the tourist information there.

We found a shovel sitting on the beach, and Rebecca had a great time digging in the sand for a while with it!


One of the things that we did while my parents were here, is floored the living room. Currently I haven't taken any "after" pictures-- I'll have to do that. But, this is before... but after we had the leveler down. Rebecca thought she should help too!
